The Making Of An Album You’ll Likely Never Hear
For the past year and a half, or something like that, I’ve been working on this – here and there. I haven’t progressed since I made part 4, but I have been working on some song ideas. Here are some videos where I explain some of the creative process.

Crushed Finger
I thought I’d write about experiences in my life here, so here’s one.
When I was a kid, I was at a friend’s house. We were going into the closet to look at a glow in the dark Casper The Friendly Ghost toy. When the door was shut, I was standing close enough to the hinge, and my finger was sticking out – it was crushed. I remember screaming once, then, probably going into shock. I was rushed down the stairs into the car and off to Emergency. I could see the bone sticking out. My finger tip on my right hand was completely gone.
I vaguely recall having reconstructive surgery where they “fixed” my finger, but the things I remember most from that time were just a few. I remember being in the car with either my mom, or both my mom and her friend (I was at her house) to the doctor’s office where I would eventually have my finger “fixed”. I don’t remember what they did that day, but I do recall having a cast. I also remember my mother buying me a puzzle with a bunch of disney characters on it. I also recall while putting the puzzle together, that I ended up puking from eating strawberries and milk (why I would have those at the same time, or one right after another I do not know). After many weeks, and probably months, and many casts, my finger was healed. Now when, I show it to people, I say “see my finger?”
Many years later, when I was in high school, I was at a party and there was another finger incident. One guy was in the bathroom, but the door wasn’t fully shut. Someone was coming in, so he got off the thrown and kicked the door shut. That kick trapped my other friend’s finger in the door, and ultimately severed the tip from it. He stood outside the bathroom asking for the door to be opened. When it finally was, they both watched in horror as his fingertip dropped to the floor, blood gushing everywhere. I recall girls screaming while my friend was completely calm as he showed his finger tip around, blood gushing out like a fountain and him cursing. Eventually, his fingertip was sown back on, but took a couple years for it to heal.

Chuck Lindo, An American Professional
I interviewed Chuck in June for Musicliferadio.com and I’m quite happy with how it turned out. The interview was close to two hours but I had to edit it down to about an hour. With the rattling of the cable from the cable car line outside, as well as many street noises and his cats caterwauling around the apartment, there was quite a lot to cut out. This one took more time than my previous interviews. All in all, this piece was chock ful’ o’ goodness, from tales of his musical upbringing to playing with former members of The Dead Kennedys in a surf band, his own bands The American Professionals, Actionslacks - or his tales of tv and radio commercials. Check it out here: American Professional.

Hidden Treasures
While I am still working on this new website, I am still deciding what to move over from the old site, as well as hidden things which were always there, but weren’t linked to via the main site. I will roll them out here as time goes on. For now you get something dumb.
Lately I’ve been doing podcast interviews for MusicLifeRadio.com and I’m really enjoying the process of interviewing and editing. I just finished one with Chuck Lindo of The American Professionals. Look for it in August. Please check out “An Earfull Of Cool“, which is a blog I’ve written specifically about music. I’ve also been playing with a new band, but we don’t have anything to tell you about yet, so I’ve said too much.

Welcome to my new website
This first post will be a little rant. Meh. My ISP moved their website administration page. In doing so, my redirects from gubna.com which had images in the html code on pages… i.e. gubna.com/images/lol.gif no longer redirect to joshuaalmond.com/images/lol.gif so I have busted images all over the site and have to manually go through every page to fix them. I may just start things over. I mean… I have been wanting to do that anyway… at least I have this blog. Waitaminute! I can just use this thing!
